The Great Comedy Night - Tickets available from 7 July
The Great Comedy night is back again - this time with four comedians heading to two South Taranaki towns in August.
The show, annually hosted by local lad and nationally renowned comedian Ben Hurley, is heading to Eltham Town Hall on Friday 18th and Hāwera’s Memorial Theatre on Saturday 19th August.
Hurley, best known for his TV appearances on shows such as 7 Days and The Project, says he looks forward to hosting a comedy event at home in South Taranaki year after year.
Justine Smith is a regular face on our screens, in 7 Days, The Project, TVNZ’s Have You Been Paying Attention and Taskmaster NZ, along with many stand-up shows.
Hayley Sproull is a star of TV and radio but live performing is her first love. Fresh from her sell out show "Ailments", Hayley brings her infectious, hilarious energy to the stage in every gig.
South Taranaki raised Vaughan King, has one of the busiest stand-ups on the circuit for over two decades. Seen on the Comedy Gala, 7 Days and Best MC at the NZ Comedy Guild awards.
South Taranaki District Council Events Co-ordinator Emma Vennell chose Eltham Town Hall again for this year's event, saying it is a stunning hall that is ideal for stand-up comedy.
"The Eltham community always gets involved and welcomes Ben and his friends back every year," says Emma. “It’s a perfect venue for this type of event. Winter can be a slow time for events, so it is nice to offer this to the community.”
Emma has also decided to bring a second show to the Hāwera Memorial Theatre due to the demand for in person events during the colder months.
“We would love to provide the opportunity for as many people as we can to sit down and enjoy a much-needed laugh,” says Emma.
Tickets for the R16 shows are $30 per person per show for theatre-style seating, or a table of 10 for $400 is available only at the Eltham show which includes nibbles and being seated on the ground floor closer to the stage.
Tickets go on sale at the South Taranaki isite Visitor Information Centre and Eltham LibraryPlus on Friday 7 July.
