Model boats of all types and sizes will ply the King Edward Park waters at Labour weekend, 21 and 22 October, in Hāwera’s annual Scale Ship Regatta.
The regatta has been running since 1996 and the event continues to grow, with 'captains' travelling from throughout the North Island to take part.
Warships, tugboats and racing yachts are among the scale ships operated from the lake edge with sophisticated remote control units. As always, they will be keen to share the secrets of building and operating the model craft with spectators.
