Hāwera Aquatic Centre
Open year round, the Hāwera Aquatic Centre boasts both an indoor and a seasonal outdoor complex, the Aquatic Centre is the place for family fun.
The Hāwera Aquatic Centre is a nationally accredited Poolsafe facilitiy and is a Gold Level AUSTSWIM Recognised Swim Centre.
Active Supervision and Ratios
South Taranaki District Council Public Swimming Pools Bylaw prevents any child under the age of eight entering a pool without a supervisor 16 years or older. Active supervision means that they are ready to respond immediately and are within easy reachable distance from the swimmer. The supervisor must be within or around the same pool as the child and not be distracted (i.e. not reading a book etc). Leaflets ‘Your Child, Your Responsibility’ are available at reception for further information about this Bylaw and on users responsibilities.
Ratios apply to the number of children in the whole facility and includes swimming lessons.
Ratios allow for 1 adult to supervise:
- 2 pre-school and 1 child
- 1 pre-school and 2 children
- 2 pre-school
- 4 children
Pre-school is classified as those 0 - 4 years old, who will be provided with a white wristband on entry.
Child is classified as those 5 - 7 years old, who will be provided with a black wristband on entry.
Normal Opening Hours
Last admission is 30 minutes before closing time.
