Glass Crate
Please don't put the following into your glass crate
❌ Broken glass | ❌ Tumblers/drinking glasses | ❌ Lids or tops |
❌ Mirrors or window glass | ❌ Lightbulbs | ❌ Pyrex or cookware |
The glass crates have a maximum weight of 12kg to be able to be collected.
What happens once my bin is emptied?
Glass bottles and jars are sorted into colour by collectors at the kerbside and stored in three separate sections in our glass recycling trucks. Keeping glass separate from mixed recycling avoids the risk of broken glass fragments contaminating other recyclables, which means we can recycle more. Glass is infinitely recyclable and is used to make new bottles and jars.
Top tips for your glass crate
- Glass is hand sorted at the kerbside, please have a thought for our drivers and make sure that the bin is not too heavy. A good rule is to make sure it's kept level (e.g. no glass coming up over the top of the crate) and also that all glass is clean and unbroken.
