Libraries to Close Temporarily on Saturday Mornings
In response to the increasing number of Omicron cases in the district and the increasing number of staff having to isolate our LibraryPlus facilities will not open on Saturday mornings in Hāwera, Eltham, Ōpunakē, Pātea and Waverley effective immediately, says STDC libraries and cultural services manager, Cath Sheard.
“While it is disappointing to be reducing opening hours, it is an important step in reducing the impact of staff isolating due to Omicron. With some staff already away, we need to protect our teams so we can continue providing a LibraryPlus service in each town,” says Cath.
“We will review the decision regularly and resume Saturday opening as soon as practical,” she says.
The recently introduced book and activity packs for families who are isolating, and home delivery for older or vulnerable users, are proving to be popular services and staff continue to look for ways new to meet the residents needs during the pandemic.
