Community Initiatives Fund 2022/23 Allocations
An amount of $67,600 has been allocated to 16 community organisations or groups from the South Taranaki District Council’s Community Initiatives Fund at its meeting on Monday, 19 September.
The Fund was established by the Council in 2021 to replace the grants previously considered under the Long Term and Annual Plans. This Fund was created to provide a fair and transparent process to support community activities, initiatives, programmes, projects, and facilities that can deliver a positive contribution to the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of the local community.
South Taranaki Mayor Phil Nixon says a total of 25 applications were received from different organisations and groups throughout the Taranaki region.
“A total of $355,360 has been requested for projects with only $67,600 available for allocation, making it a difficult task to distribute the funds as all of these applicants contribute positively to the community and deserve support,” he says.
“As we had only limited funds available, allocations were given to organisations or groups whose work closely aligned with the priorities we outlined in our Long Term and Annual Plans,” he added.
