Free Wi-fi for Eltham CBD
Eltham’s central business area now has free Wi-Fi thanks to the generosity of Primo and the Eltham-Kaponga Community Board.
Last year local South Taranaki District councillor and community board member Steffy Mackay, consulted with local youth about what they wanted in their town and how Eltham could become an attractive place to live and visit. The children raised the idea of Eltham CBD providing free Wi-Fi similar to neighbouring towns and that it would be useful for visitors to the area.
“It is important we listen to our youth and what they want for their town, as we want them to stick around for generations to come.” says Cr Mackay.
“Eltham-Kaponga Community Board chair Karen Cave says the board are strong supporters of this project and are grateful to Primo for helping make this happen for our town.
“Primo is well known for its community work in Taranaki and has financially supported the project along with the Eltham Kaponga Community Board. This joint venture means the Wi-Fi will reach the main shopping areas and Bridger Park, so people can use it while visiting one of the district’s premier parks,” says Cave.
This is not the first time Primo and the Eltham-Kaponga Community Board have worked together - last year they worked together to boost the Wi-Fi at Kaponga LibraryPlus, creating a safer space for after-hours users.
Thanks to Primo, Eltham-Kaponga Community Board, Eltham and Districts Historical Society and building owners for their support for this project.
