Consultation Open for Gambling and Easter Sunday Shop Trading Policies
Consultation is currently underway to review South Taranaki’s Class 4 Gambling Venues (gaming or ‘pokie’ machines), TAB Venues and Easter Sunday Trading policies.
South Taranaki District Council head of strategy and governance, Becky Wolland says the Gambling Venues Policy limits the number of gaming machines in South Taranaki District to 121, while the TAB Venues Policy does not allow any new stand-alone TAB venues to be established. The Easter Sunday Trading Policy allows any business to trade on Easter Sunday if they wish to.
“Council’s preferred option is to renew these policies with no changes, but this is your chance to let the Council know your views, so please take the time to have your say,” says Wolland.
A copy of the consultation documents and submission forms will be on the Council’s website southtaranaki.com from 31 July. Residents can also visit the Hāwera administration building or one of the Council’s seven LibraryPlus centres for more information and submission forms.
Consultation closes at 5pm Friday 1 September 2023.
