Meal Planning on a Budget – Free Workshops
In an effort to help households stretch their grocery budgets while reducing food waste, South Taranaki District Council is hosting a series of free workshops called 'Meal Planning on a Budget', in collaboration with the Hāwera Budget Advisory Services.
Council's environment and sustainability manager Cindy Koen says the sessions will equip participants with practical skills to plan nutritious meals, make the most of their grocery shop and reduce unnecessary food waste.
“These workshops are open to anyone interested in learning how to plan meals efficiently while staying within a budget,” says Cindy.
“Whether you're looking to save money on groceries, reduce food waste, or make healthier eating choices, this session will provide practical tips and tools to help you succeed.”
Attendees will have access to resources, including meal planning templates, recipe books and other tools to simplify the meal planning process.
“We are really excited that the Hāwera Budget Advisory Services team has agreed to come onboard and help us with these sessions – they have the skills and knowledge to pass onto our residents.”
These workshops are being held through March to correspond with the nation-wide Love Food Hate Waste campaign.
The Love Food Hate Waste campaign is about households reducing the amount of food waste they create, and in turn, saving money at the supermarket. Find out more about Love Food Hate Waste at www.lovefoodhatewaste.co.nz.
