Health Warning Kaūpokonui River and in the Waingongoro River at Ohawe

Amounts of potentially toxic cyanobacteria have been found in the Kaūpokonui River at the beach domain and in the Waingongoro River at Ohawe. Cyanobacteria, a naturally occurring algae, can cause serious illness in humans and animals. We advise you avoid swimming or letting pets enter the water.

In accordance with Section 342 of the Local Government Act 1974, notice is hereby given that the following road will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the installation of culverts for the periods indicated hereunder.

Gregory Road, Rahotu (between Rahotu and Lower Kahui Roads)
From 8am 13 January 2025 to 5pm Friday 17 January 2025
and from
Monday 20 January 2025 to Friday 1 February 2025
(weekdays 8am to 5pm only)

Gregory Road, Rahotu (100m from SH45 and Lower Kahui Roads)
From 8am 27 January 2025 to 5pm Friday 31 January 2025
and from
Monday 3 February 2025 to Friday 14 February 2025
(weekdays 8am to 5pm only)

Resident and Emergency Access available either side of culvert installations

It will be an offence under the above Act for any person otherwise than under authority of an authorised period to use this road for ordinary vehicular traffic during the period of closures.

In all other situations necessitating the use of the road, contact must be made with the site traffic management coordinators on-site, on the day.
