Click & Collect at your Local LibraryPlus

The move to COVID-19 Alert Level 3 on Tuesday 28 April will mean South Taranaki readers can again access physical books from their local LibraryPlus via a new “click and collect” contactless system.

South Taranaki District Council libraries and cultural services manager, Cath Sheard says unfortunately, this does not apply to people living in Rest Homes due to their higher level of security, however people living in independent units within rest home villages are welcome to use “click and collect”.

“Click and collect” items will be available for pickup as follows:

• Hāwera LibraryPlus – 11am-2pm Monday to Friday
• Eltham, Manaia, Opunake, Pātea & Waverley LibraryPlus – 11am-1pm Monday to Friday
• Kaponga LibraryPlus – 1.30-3pm Wednesday

“Our library courier service is not operating under Level 3, which means you can only reserve and borrow books from the town your bubble is in. You can search for books in the catalogue as normal, but the system will only let you reserve books that are shelved in your bubble branch,” says Cath. “It’s fine to start ordering books now, so we can have them ready for you to collect on Tuesday 28 April.”

Cath says residents can find new ‘how to’ videos on the LibraryPlus Blog http://libraryplus.blogspot.com/ and on the South Taranaki Libraries Facebook page showing how to search for books, reserve books, and an advanced search so you only see books held in your bubble branch.

“Due to the COVID-19 restrictions all books are issued for 8 weeks, and there are currently no fines for late returns. Items can only be returned through the external return slots; so please don’t hand books to staff as this increases the risk of infection transfer,” she says.
