Ōpunakē Water Flushing
From 11pm tonight (Monday 6 September) Council contractors will be flushing Ōpunakē’s main water pipe running from the water treatment plant, along Ihaia Road up to Whitcombe Road.
This unplanned flushing, is being done to clear the main pipeline of any fine sediment and to reduce issues of discoloration. While the flushing is being done the water may be temporarily discoloured. If this is the case, please run your cold tap for ten minutes or until the water is clear.
Though the water might be discoloured it is chlorinated and is safe to drink. Thank you for your patience and if discolouration continues, please ring the Council toll-free on 0800 111 323.
Kind regards
Herbert Denton
