The Annual Scale Ship Regatta ready to set sail this Labour Weekend
Model boats of all types and sizes will ply the King Edward Park waters at Labour weekend, 26 and 27 October, in Hāwera’s annual Scale Ship Regatta.
The regatta has been running since 1996 and the event continues to grow, with 'captains' travelling from throughout the North Island to take part.
Warships, tugboats and racing yachts are among the scale ships operated from the lake edge with sophisticated remote control units. As always, they will be keen to share the secrets of building and operating the model craft with spectators.
This event has been running for 28 years.
South Taranaki District Council Places and Spaces Volunteer Co-ordinator Alice Arnold says that this is a good opportunity to get the family into the award winning King Edward Park which is looking its best.
“So make the most of it and bring along a picnic to enjoy while watching the boats and go for a stroll through the gardens,” says Alice.
