Council to consult with community on location of LibraryPlus
Council is asking for feedback from Kaponga residents on where they want to see Kaponga LibraryPlus services located in the future.
The current LibraryPlus building needs repairing due to water damage caused by leaks, posing health and safety risks to those using the space says Council Community Services group manager Rob Haveswood.
"Due to the age and current condition of the building, it is expected that significant work is needed to not only fix the current problem but also ensure water tightness for years to come,” says Rob.
“Because we do not know the full extent of the damage, and won’t know until we start removing walls, there’s the potential that the $100,000 budgeted to repair the building won’t nearly be enough to cover the amount of work required.”
Council is asking residents how they feel about permanently moving the LibraryPlus into the Kaponga War Memorial Hall supper room, or if they’d like to see the $100,000 go towards an attempt to fix the existing building.
Feedback can be submitted until Tuesday 8 April using the submission form at Kaponga and Eltham LibraryPlus facilities, or online at www.southtaranaki.com/consultations
