Road Works Planned for King Edward Street/Rawhitiroa Road, Eltham
Work is set to begin on King Edward Street/Rawhitiroa Road Eltham as part of the South Taranaki District Council's programme to improve the quality of local roads. Fulton Hogan has been contracted to upgrade 800 metres of the road, starting from Monday 29 January. A part of the road will be closed during this time.
Senior Roading Engineer Nick Dawe says that although closing part of the road is a bit inconvenient for road users, it allows the contractors to get the work done sooner and everyone will have an improved piece of road to drive on as a result.
A detour will be in place via Anderson Road to allow for access to the remainder of Rawhitiroa Road. Nick says that while only a portion of the road will be closed, all traffic, especially heavy vehicles, should follow the detour to avoid having to turn around at the closed part of the road.
The work will take six weeks to complete and will cost approximately $750,000.
