Message from TRANSPOWER:
Due to an unexpected failure of equipment at our Waverley substation during servicing this week, we need to undertake urgent repairs at the substation on Sunday 19 May 2024 from 9am to 4pm.
These repairs will require the entire substation to be offline, meaning loss of supply to consumers in this region.
We apologise to consumers for the sudden inconvenience of an outage - but while we have a temporary solution in place, we cannot leave it any longer than a few days without risking a longer outage.
Preparing for the power outage:
- If you are reliant on electricity for medical support equipment, please contact your medical provider for advice.
- Turn off all electronic appliances at the wall (microwaves, TVs, DVDs computers, etc).
- Lift and store enough water from storage tanks before the power goes off.
- If you are on shift work, fill up your petrol tank the night before - remember pumps and eftpos won't work.
- While the power is off, treat all power lines and electrical wiring as being alive at all times as it could be restored earlier than planned.
