My staff and I are eager to implement different habits that help save the environment. Recycling as much as we can and opting for reuseable products instead of one-use items, not only will it save us money as a business, but keep us bio friendly with our neighbours,” says Masse Club Manager Myree Woodhead.

“You may have to take five extra minutes to wash, rinse, dry or sort items at the end of the day, but your general waste will be so minimal, it’ll be worth it. I’m hoping other businesses in Hāwera see this as an opportunity to put their best foot forward and take the plunge with us,” she says.

“At Houghton’s Plumbing, Heating & Gas Ltd, we are always striving to do better and so are pleased to be involved with the South Taranaki District Council and their Resource Wise Business Programme. We have made a lot of changes in the that way we recycle, and the council provided us with useful information as to what and where items can be recycled. New habits can take time to form but we are adapting well and are pleased to be able to redirect as much as we can from landfill. We encourage others to get on board with this initiative.”
