The Great Comedy Night heads to Eltham
The popular Great Comedy night is back again this year on June 12, but this time it’s headed to the prestigious Eltham Town Hall.
The show is hosted by local lad Ben Hurley, who says he always looks forward to coming back and hosting a comedy event at home in South Taranaki year after year. Ben is well known for his TV appearances on shows such as 7 Days and The Project.
This time round he is bringing Justine Smith who will headline the event. Justine is one of New Zealand’s very best, award winning female comedians, known for her appearances on 7 Days, Have You Been Paying Attention and the Comedy Gala.
Justine is extremely popular in the New Zealand Comedy scene, and always keeps her audiences on their toes. Supporting Justine will be Paul Douglas.
Paul has performed alongside many of the industry’s top performers and is a regular on the Auckland Comedy circuit.
South Taranaki District Council Events Co-ordinator Hayley Old says she chose the Eltham Town hall for the event this year because it’s a stunning hall that is ideal for stand-up comedy.
“It’s a perfect venue for this type of event,” she says. “Winter can be a slow time for events and getting out and about, so it’s nice to be able to offer the community something like this.”
Tickets are $40 each or table of 10 for $350 and will go on sale at the South Taranaki i-SITE Visitor Centre and Eltham LibraryPlus on Friday 14 May.
The show is R16.
