​Ōpunakē and Pātea Sewer CCTV Inspections

South Taranaki District Council (STDC) contractors CityCare are currently in Ōpunakē and Pātea carrying out CCTV inspections of wastewater pipes and manholes.

STDC project manager Claude Shaw says many of the manholes are located on private property and owners will be notified in advance to let them know. “If the contractor needs to enter your property, they will endeavour to make initial contact to make sure it’s ok with them first,” he says.

The work is being conducted over the next 10 months in an effort to reduce the amount of rainwater entering the towns’ wastewater networks and treatment plants.

“This work will help extend the life of our wastewater assets and minimise the amount we need to spend on costly upgrades as well as helping to reduce the impact on our environment,” says Claude.

The work should be completed approximately March 2022.
