Mayor Urges Community Support

South Taranaki Mayor, Phil Nixon urges people to remain calm and support each other following the announcement of 1 new case of COVID-19 in Eltham today on top of the 15 cases announced yesterday.

“While I fully appreciate that many people will be concerned and possibly fearful, now is not the time to lay blame or point fingers.

“Everyone is trying to do the best they can in very challenging circumstances, but we’re all in this together and now is the time to pull together and support each other.”

Mayor Nixon says it will be a particularly tough time for some families as the isolation time will be over the Christmas period.

“I know that many people are tired and stressed particularly as we near the end of the year, but that’s why it’s more important than ever that we be kind to each other and look out for each other. That’s how we do it in South Taranaki.”
