District Braces for More Severe Weather
While our crews are out there still cleaning up after last weekend’s weather, we're also keeping a very watchful eye on what's heading our way this weekend.
The Metservice have issued the first of their warnings for this weekend (12/13 February) and Cyclone Dovi which is forecast to approach New Zealand from the northwest this Friday and may cross central New Zealand on Sunday.
A band of heavy rain precedes the centre of DOVI and is forecast to start affecting central New Zealand from Friday afternoon. Gale to severe gale winds associated with DOVI are also expected to affect parts of central and northern New Zealand this weekend.
Our Council emergency management team is liaising closely with Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management and we are both monitoring the weather carefully.
We recommend you keep an eye on our South Taranaki District Council facebook page and the Taranaki Civil Defence facebook page for information and updates over the weekend.
It’s also a good idea to download our Council Antenno App ff you want to receive alerts/notifications to your mobile phone. It's incredibly easy to download and use. Click the link for instructions. https://www.southtaranaki.com/our-council/antenno
