Code Compliance Certificate
Tiwhikete Tūtohu Tikanga
A Code Compliance Certificate (CCC) is a proof of verification from Council that all work undertaken has been completed in accordance with the stamped approved documents issued with the building consent, and in compliance with the Building Code.
When to Apply
When the building work is complete and the final inspection is passed, an application for a CCC can be applied for via the Simpli portal. Any outstanding building consent fees and/or levies must be paid in full at this time also.
How to Apply
We require the application to be submitted with:
- Records of work produced by licensed building practitioners (where restricted building work applies).
- Electrical or gas certifications (if applicable).

The Process after Application is made
The Council has 20 working days from the date of application for a CCC to decide whether or not to issue the certificate. If we have to request more information in regard to the application for a CCC, the clock will be paused. It will restart again when the requested information has been received. We must be satisfied on reasonable grounds under section 94 of the Building Act that the building work complies with the approved building consent.
If no application for a CCC is received within two years of granting a building consent, Council may refuse to issue a CCC unless the owner has applied for an extension.
